The book is by Marcia Levine Mazur, The Dinosaur Tamer and Other Stories for Children with Diabetes. Alexandria, VA: American Diabetes Association, 1995.

This book is geared for children. My ten year old read it non-stop from cover to cover. Several different scenarios in which children might find themselves are presented. For example, a fifth grader has to do a speech in front of her class and decides to do it on what it's like having diabetes.

On another level, the book helps educate parents, grandparents and others about the kinds of situations kids might find themselves in, especially the misunderstandings and misinformation surrounding diabetes.

This book is especially wonderful for the newly diagnosed child and his/her parents.
