Index of Topics on Site Melding Art into Everyday Culture
There are a couple of things going on here. First, I was playing with the NY Times photograph, because I wanted to heighten the colors. I like fauve landscapes, and as it appeared, it certainly wasn't fauve. The following are some of the things I tried with the little time I had. You might try too. Just copy the photo into your PAINT program and play with it.

Note the changes in feeling from changing the colors and from cropping the image differently. Be aware of these patterns.

Another thing happening here is the newness of public expectations that public art belongs to the public. Not just in museums, but in odd places, like the docks, where many of us might see it. There have been lots of examples of this on Dear Habermas. Can't get them all up tonight but will do so soon. jeanne
