Because I didn't have much time I've just put up this week's commentaries as they come. They need to be filed by topic, but if I do that tonight, I'll never get them up. It's already 10 p.m. jeanne

Dear Jeanne,

My name is Kimberly Dorn-Williams. We haven't had much communication via email this semester, but I'm the one in class today that wanted to know how you could not be accepted, when hundreds of your students accept and embrace you just the way you are. Two weeks ago I and another young lady (who's name I wouldn't dare type for fear of spelling it incorrectly) expressed our concerns about applying to law schools as a CSUDH graduate because of the negative connotation that has become associated with our school. And finally long-long ago, in the second week of class I brought in my own personalized purple and gold "pimp goblet" as an answer to the misogynistic pop culture which infers that women exist to use their bodies as a means to make money. While on the other hand men, goblets in hand, use their minds to achieve status. Well I insist that my mind works as well as any man's, irrespective of my body, so I have a goblet too..

I just wanted to email you about my class participation, because I know that you have many students and responsibilites and it's hard to keep up with our names, let alone every word we say.

See ya soon,

Kim

Thanks for the "good dog," Kim. Maybe I should paint myself a pimp goblet. Now, there's an idea. And thanks for keeping me aware of our participation. You're right. It helps.

love and peace, jeanne
