There are many of us who seek peace and social justice. Many who wish to find new and imaginative ways to acknowledge all our fellow humans with respect and dignity. But in this particular time of outrageous profit-gouging and greed, with power and control in the hands of those who deny any responsibility for the calamities of immense gaps in wealth, of earth pollution and criminally negligent attitudes towards our responsibility to the earth and to all the humans who inhabit it, those of us who would seek an end to such atrocities, often suffer over the gradual disintegration of our tribes, our families, our solidarity, our communities. Cornel West once said that it is the task of the liberal in a dangerously conservative era to keep alive the memory of our comittment to peace and justice. To keep alive the stories of what we have accomplished in the past, and to remind us that we are indeed a force to be reckoned with. Well, he probably didn't say all that; I reckon I embellished a little on my own. But you can find his words in David Kairy's first edition of the Politics of Law. Maybe in the second edition, too, but that edition got just too long for us, so I still go back to the first edition.

On Friday, September 27, 2002, Tal Haran wrote to members o his support gorup: Attempts to disrupt our connectedness. This says that some are afraid of our connections, which suggests that we may be toucning their recognition, with our presence and determination, at least.

From: Tal Haran Subject: [New Profile] hackers and poison mail
dear friends,
unfortunately, though not unexpectedly, various poison mail is circulating the net, and ugly propaganda messages are being sent out to various email lists, private address books, etc. - some of it under my name and the name of various friends in peace-activist circles. i am sorry for the inconvenience (having to delete hundreds of postings). none of this is my doing. best regards, tal
New Profile That seems to have caused the spam. It's a peace in the Middle East site. jeanne
