These short statements of our joint perceptions of your learning are growing from our review of the records and our experiences in class. In a cooperative learning world, in which our objective is to help each other gain critical insights, what should matter, instead of "grades" is such a report. Learning that I can tell you I have seen, either directly or through some of your work, and that you can confirm. That is learning accountability.

As we gain skill at this, a paragraph of recommendation should be your goal for the end of each course, each semester. If you were to realize that this is how I will end the course, and you were to want the best possible recommendation of your learning, we could interactively check our respective records all semester, and the recommendations could be detailed and helpful to all who want to know about your learning. Visit Letters of Recommendation for clues on how to do this.

Special Note: If your 3rd rol and course grade are not resolved by 11 a.m. central time, Monday, May 13th, the rols and grades will become "F's".

The third ROL period was from Week 11 through Week 15 (March 31 - May 3, 2002). The criteria for grading were the 5Cs -- communication, cooperation, consistency, competency, and creativity in conjunction with your latest grade form that I have on file. Also considered is Bloom and Krathwohl's taxonomy of learning: latent learning, recognition, recall, application, analysis, evaluation and synthesis. If your grade has not been resolved, please email me or see me in my office as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Student 1393 - Even though didn't talk to whole class, did all the time in groups. Student 2181 - In the beginning, was a little confused but after getting advice from other students and asking questions, began to understand. Student 3185 - Have done what was expected. Even more by talking in class. Watching outside news. Student 4148 - Have done well as far as keeping up with the work and adjusting learning skills. 1st rol="B-" [2/20] Completed all the work expected. Had a few health issues so missed a couple of classes but tried to stay on top of what was happening in class. Relayed a few ideas for creative learning and that is what was lacking before. Creative learning is just on stand still right now. 2nd rol="C+" Did two creative measures. Kept on task with class work Set up own site visit to a prison. Worked well and added to group discussions. Student 4299 - Consistently attended class. Started researching biases in juvenile corrections. Continuously speaks up and participates in class. Student 4664 - Tried very hard to do everything asked. Done more than what's required. Spoken out several times. Brought in current event. Student 5147 - Came to class. Asked questions E-mailed summarizing the class. Started research on capital punishment. Student 5190 - Could have done a little more work. Did all assigned readings. Didn't email terms (didn't know was suppose to).
