Coordinating Collaborative Project WorkWhen we work in collaborative groups, I do not mean that everyone needs to meet together or even work on the same piece together. I would like you to know all the people who are working, for example, on Respect. But that doesn't mean that since Jose and some others are working on a propsed revision of the Student Rights and Responsibilities that everyone needs to work together on that, or that Jose needs to call you all together. Life in the fast track of the modern world is to hectic and conflicted for that.Instead, knowing that Jose is working on Student Rights and Responsibilities means that anyone else working on that area needs to let us know. Sometimes it will work out for people to work together. Sometimes it will just help us to organize the exhibit with like projects together.
Please re-read the openness emphasized in our activities and participation in the exhibit: Graduate Women and Poverty Syllabus, as example. Let that guide you. You may form a group and plan to work together, and someone can't make it. That's OK. Do your own thing, cooperate as well as you can. You are not full-time students with nothing to do but homework, folks. Our lives are happening, too.
Jose may be off at some high-level meetings for the Student Association this week. He may not even have seen your messages yet. So you've posted them, so that he and I know what's happening. We're getting messages about what we may need to requisition in the way of technical and physical equipment. And I'm here for backup, so that I could slow you down, if I figured it wouldn't be OK. Go for your own planning. Don't wait.
So far, I've ordered two tables, to be placed in the walkways around the Student Union. I haven't ordered any musical equipment, and someone wanted to play music. That needs to be ordered Monday or Tuesday, if you can get together on transform_dom and figure out what you need.
Right now my old cat, Cleopatra, is sick. I just need a break. I believe, I believe, I believe. But maybe you should color me Republican. No one fusses at you if you just test and test and test and don't try to make a difference. Renee just told me how many of you don't know what to do and aren't asking me about the exhibit and the projects. Lucky me, I had been working on writing this for you all day. Maybe, just maybe, you'll try listening to me, and taking the trouble to use the site I keep uploading as your text. jeanne in the blackest of moods.
