Hello Jeanne, our thesis for our essay will be Marcus Garvey and his theories.Marcus Garvey felt that the white man should give black people their own land and let us live by our own rules. He felt this way because of the way black people were being treated by the white man. The white man did not agree with this and ignored Garvey's request. So Garvey then came up with the idea to take black people back to Africa in order to see where we came from and maybe want to return to.
Garvey had supporters but his ideas were unrealistic because he would never get a consensus of all black people to go back to Africa. Blacks would not go because Africans do not like Black people from america. Garvey then took the few people who were interested on his adventure. The trip was not successful because the boat sank and the blacks that stayed were greatful that they did. Because the people did go were now the laughing stock among blacks.
If this opportunity was present today we would decline because it is common knowledge that Africans do not like Black people. They are upset at us for calling ourselves African American, but what are we are suppose to call ourselves. Are we not entitled to keep apart of our heritage. Is not our fault that our ancestors did not fight the white man to prevent becoming slaves. they did the best they could and took the strides that came with life and now it is our time. This was a point that Garvey did not think about when he was inspired to go to Africa. Could you imagine how Africa would be if all black people would have went or were to go now. There be so turmoil that Blacks would be happier in America. Maybe it is just best that we as black people stay in America and accept that we are second class citizens that will never be taken serious.
Garvey's ideas were extremly far fetched because anyone in their right mind would not have gone with Garvey because he wasn't sure what was in store for them. Garvey was very optimistic in a time when Blacks were very weary of the treatment that they had faced at the hands of the white man. personally I feel like I'm an American and that' s it nothing more nothing less I'm happy with myself and if others aren't than that's too bad because I'm not going to Africa. If they don't want to be around me then they should leave.

Good job. Glad to see that you two are still working together. There are some inaccuracies in here, like that Africans don't like Blacks. Some of your peers may want to discuss this. I'll get up my responses as soon as I can.love and peace, jeanne
