Discussion Questions

  1. How does "knowingness" come into play in the issue of genetically modified food?

Consider the fact that there has been no time for scientific (positivist) studies of these foods, and that there has been even less time to determine whether they will have any genetic effect on how humans reproduce.

How does the issue of genetically modified food compare to that of stem cell research?

Consider that both may alter genetic patterns. Consider that the Bush Administration is adamantly opposed to stem research, which relates almost not at all to trade, and adamantly in favor of genetically modified foods, which relate almost directly to trade.
