I found this photo essay on the destruction at Chernobyl Chernobyl Photo Essay on the IVSA listserv. Because I'd been writing about the deplorable conditions facing workers in the job market, including artists this week, I recognized in this tour of Chernobyl the significance of allowing answerability to go on repressed for too long. We're a global society now; each of us is responsible to the community of humans, to the future of life on this planet. When we see injustice, exploitation, destruction of resources and human values, we must find the skills to answer effectively. Chernobyl reminds us of the absolute loss of humanity when we fail to make our voices heard.
