This essay is based on several articles and reviews on the painting of Francisco de Goya. I fell in love with Goya's work over ten years ago in Spain. And I was drawn back to that work, to the Caprichos and the Black Paintings, as we consider once again humans' inhumanity to humans in the aftermath to September 11th.
