Statistical Analysis of The Mess You Find Yourself In

Research departments and separate research enterprises collect a lot of data (often surveys, which jeanne dislikes intensely), and they analyze them extensively, with statistical programs like SPSS, for lots of money, which government agencies and institutions find prohibitive with current budget cuts. The cost is particularly prohibitive if you're in a department that needs some data analysis, but doesn't have access to the research department. This section is about disovering data all around you and figuring out how to interpret that data with common sense.
