Read carefully the conflict and confusion expressed by many of these young men. And then let us consider the concept of Herbart's apperceptive mass.

Think of the stewpot of the young Indonesian Muslim and imagine the communication between his apperceptive mass and that of a young U.S. male. Don't confuse the issue any more with gender. Just imagine male to male.
