No Child Left Behind

Well, yes, but behind what? Behind the obstacles of access to education? Behind absolute conformity in memorizing trivia for banked knowledge? Behind in the thrill of scoring perfectly on a test that somebody hopes measures something? Behind in the joy of pursuing one's curiosity just for fun, just for the sake of knowing where that might lead? Or behind in the ever-increasingly competitive career escalator that bids us to get on and off at the appropriate floors? Appropriate defined how and by whom?
