Chapter 1: NOW as a Goldfish

"Fair use" encouraged.

"Nothing right now is making me feel to sure of myself. I just read a Scientific American article on how easy it is to order all the ingredients for poison gas. They make it clear that they're telling me this for my own good, so that I'll demand that our government insist on stricter procedures. But somehow, that doesn't make me feel a lot better."

"Rrrringgg. . . ."

"That's my phone. Where is it? . . . . What do I do? I finally got one, but I can't remember what to do."

"Say 'hello.' " "Open it up, and answer it." "Say "hello." "

"Hello." . . . "It works!"

"They're doing what? Outside my door? Upstairs? You've got to be kidding! It's OK. They can't really do anything. Don't worry about it. I'll check it out between classes. Tell JoAnn to take the damn thing down . . . No, wait . . . Nevermind. Leave it there. Let them hover. . . like birds of prey. . . . "

150 words. I counted them, sort of. Total word count: 1702. I think. And I cheated. I didn't get this up till Tuesday morning - Day 6. I fell asleep last night at midnight.
