I created Dear Habermas Oscars this last couple of weeks, all alone and unilaterally, because I was amazed at the learning I see at so many different levels when structural violence is removed and students are respected as subjects, not objects, of their own learning. I'll worry now about how to include all of us in the decisions of who and what to honor with one of our Oscars, but I just couldn't wait to make the first awards. We'll consider this as one of the topics in Moot Court 2002 because it bears so directly and with such up front, personal repercussions for all of us, on social justice. And I stopped right in the middle of trying to update the grades because this is such an integral part of "grading" in a post-colonial world, I don't think any report of learning could be complete without considering these issues.
I've got to get right back to the onslaught of submissions you sent last week, but now I'll be able to include kudos as I go.
love and peace in shared learning, jeanne
