One of the byproducts of the Enlightenment, with its boundless faith in the "objective" and the scientific approach to truth, was the rejection of the personal as lacking that objectivity and, hence, unrevealing of "Truth." One of the advantages proffered by postmodernism is the recognition that the personal matters. (Cite the Taliban.
