jeanne's Li'l Red Hen The Little Red Hen

The grassy green fields
The lovely blue skies
Gentle mountain breeze
Turned my sadness into smiles

For often alone
So different from the rest
I looked at my feathers
Oh! I felt so depressed

Everyone was yellow
And I, the only red
No one wanted to play with me
Not even one friend

Strutting through the barnyard
I turned away from my fears
And looked up at the fields
That seemed to be saying
Hello there! my friend

I stopped, turned and flew on the top of the hay
Sat and closed my eyes
The wind lifted my feathers and I said aloud
It's good to be alive!

Just then I felt the presence
Of someone close behind
It was a lovely yellow hen
She looked and said Hi!

I beckoned her to sit with me
She did and then she said
Miss Red Hen I have something to ask
Would you be my friend?
