Jeanne,This is Kimberly from your Peace and Conflict class, and I would like to say that I like the way the class is going. The interactions between the students and the teacher are educational. Especially, with the art interpretations. The issue about the caucasian people not being the majority with the picture in the news paper showing the exact opposite was rather confusing in a way. The picture that was in the paper depicted how it used to be in the work force before Affirmative Action, where there was a lot of white people and only a few African Americans. For awhile now, caucasians have not been the majority race in California, in my opinion. Even on the CSU Dominguez Hills campus they are only the third largest ethnic group. They are still #1 in the higher positions like CEO, managers, President, so they shouldn't be complaining, but they may want to re-evaluate how they do their business with other ethnicities, especially with the minorities.

I think you're right, Kimberly. I think we are all going to have to re-evaluate how we treat and respect each other, for the demographic statistics are indeed changing. We are a large county, with many resources, but those resources have not been distributed to all. We're going to need to ask ourselves lots of questions about our values on that.I also think you're right about the use of visual interpretations. The visual world impacts us daily, far more than we realize. We need to bring that impact to awarenss, and recognize it as a tool for communication.
