Transtheoretical is a model I heard about in my behavior class. I first saw it used in "The Transtheoretical Model and Cervical Screening..." by Gillespie & Kelaher I searched the web and found various interpretations of TTM. Dr.'s Carlos DiClemente and James Prochaska developed the model in 72 I believe. It is usually applied to the behavior of smokers and drinkers to explain the stages they go through. The best cites for thorough explaination are http://www.med.usf.edu/~kmbrown/Stages_of_Change_Overview.htm and http://www.habitsmart.com/motivate.htm It makes for interesting reading, I think I could pretty much use this to sum up all the various beahviors I see! Thanks again for the help, no rush on putting it up, I know it is busy for you. Take care!On December 10, 2001, jeanne wrote:
Cheryl, I'm so glad I could help. I'll get this all up. Nag me if I forget. And where are you reading "transtheoretical model of behavioral change?" I haven't read that and it sounds like I should. That's why I had to retire. So I can read it all. I really would like to get this dialog up, so please do nag me. I'm just struggling with all the record keeping right now. love and peace, jeanneOn December 10, Cheryl wrote:
Thanks Jeanne, I was able to use the information you provided. Not only was I trying to link a theory to why raped prostitutes are not helped, I was only analyzing the behavior of prostitutes in general and the reasons that they make the decision to enter the field of sex work. By using the transtheoretical model of behavior change, I was able to place prsotitutes in to the cycle described by the theory. before becoming prostitues, but also during the careers by clients, family, society, and the men that are there to uphold the law. Thanks again!!!!!!
