• December 31, 1998 - Happy New Year, Everyone!

  • Began to reorganize index by letter. Should help.

  • Finsihed pieces for silence.htm file and indexed some. Linked silence.htm through forums and through good faith on main page.

  • did not get to cooptation, which should bring in old "false consciousness" concept with say, mackinnon's neglect of same, and the good faith concern of forgiveness. will try to get there soon.

  • exercise on girl gangs ready to go up, but later. will be linked through juvenile justice.

  • began to revise assignment sheets. Answers are not really answers. changed label to "Lecture Notes on", but kept them to specific questions because my best judgment that students need that. This, by the way, is a return to the two books we published on women and on oppression and revolution. Can;t afford to throw out the good stuff with what doesn't work.

• December 30, 1998

  • Added color.htm, link through forums on navigation bar.

  • Added nag.htm for bits and pieces I don't have time to locate on the site. I expect to move them to appropriate files. Beware. I might forget to change the link.

  • Revised forums.htm, link through forums on navigation bar.

  • Revised racenethn.htm, link through race on navigation bar.

  • Added color.htm, linked through race, review of Images of Color for students in classes where book not required.

  • Planning to add coopting.htm in conjunction with Man and Zatz' Images of Color. May not get there today, though. Nag if you need it.

  • Planning to add a summary of Chap. 18, Images of Color, to privilege.htm. Will be an interactive file, I hope. If not now, then later. May not get there today. Nag me.

• December 29, 1998

  • Added 2d Crim. Just exercise from Images of Color, images of crime. Linked from main navigation bar? whatever - will elarn to do a bar and buttons when exercises and indices are all up, and well, maybe after a search engine.

• December 28, 1998

  • Added first exercise and answer to Juv. Justice.

  • Added materials from congressional Record to impeach.htm (Gephardt's plea for censure Dec. 19), to starr.htm , the Starr Trap from Congressional Record, thanks to censure and move on, and candor.htm on High price for Candor, read into Cong. Record from Denver Post. Haven't linked from main page yet.

  • Trying to set up more effective navigation bar for main page. Main piece functioning. Need to revise Fall 98 and archive it , and then set up site for Spring 98. Going to take a few days.

• December 27, 1998

  • Began files for Criminal Justice for next semester. crimjacc.htm

  • Added US News and World Report to scholref.htm and to index.

  • Added Mother Jones to crimjacc.htm and to index.

  • Added PBS under museums, etc. on home page. Note Kids' site too.

  • Added link to Dec. 28 showing of From Jesus to Christ, with Harvard symposium follow-up. Balanced with site link from Beyond the Veil on Iran. Added PBS to index.

  • Art Experiment added as link to consider possibilities for interactive participation in project development. I don't think the Art Experiment site works, but that was not an academic community, and there was no educational oversight. Might have real possibilitites for our work.

  • Theodore Tugboat at Cochran Entertainment has been improved. More colors, and I think you can print. Link through PBS Kids' page was working but slow on Dec. 28. You can also link through our site index.

• December 26, 1998

  • Added a site that Honor should see. Linked under her project, Oneness. On home page.

  • Added some notes to adminsoc. htm from jan Koster's essay on Chomsky tribute. Will have to finish later.

  • Added a scuba diving site under homework fish on home page. Followed links from froggy page to the Fish cam. Will have to add later. have them under dhfroggy in WP. Should be set out for those ready for other than HTML.

  • Added material on Sout Asian history, where battle of tenure and forum denial going on. Indexed under forums, and on homepage. In file forums. htm.

• Decmber 25, 1998

  • New material on AIDS and one African-American position on the topic. Added to aidsinfo.htm on Dec. 25.

  • Steve Schalchlin's site has been updated. Find in aidsinfo.htm. And I've added Peter Gomes' The Good Book reference in Amazon.com, for those who would like to begin to search out the religious aspects of the AIDS dilemma. Amson.com has a good listing to get you started.

  • Just added Shaun Gallagher's site Research Sources on Concepts of Person and Self Relates to the work that virtual faculty is doing on narrative and identity and culture. Need to link for your convenience, but not today! It's file is "idncontxt.htm".

  • Put up grades, with an attempt to use the e-mail dialog. Technological nightmare for me, since I changed systems, and am operating with all new software. More on this later. Planning to move the grades to archive file, set up materials for three new courses to join our virtual community, and figure out how to effectively incorporate ou Web board. That didn't happen too well this semester. Suggestions welcome.

    Support pages on diabetes and cancer going up. First one already started as project, Stories for Those of Us for Whom School Means Overcoming Challenge. All these specialized support groups are evolving through students whose lives have been touched by those with such challenges, who want support for a link into the academic community, and who are concerned that such voices be heard in the public discourse of our virtual community. Just in case you were wondering how all this hangs together. jeanne
