• January 15, 1999

  • Last night adds a new science file with links to all the files on silence. science.htm is not finished. Needs revision and additions. Need separation into age-appropriate levels.

  • This morning broke the whatnew.htm file into two separate files: newbtop.htm and newbdat.htm, since students may need to see what's new in various topic areas, not just by dates. May take a while to get organized into this new structure.

  • Added Rodriguez, Ryave, and Tracewell's paper on withholding compliments on site. Is linked through papers under Features, should be linked through interdependence and relationships - so listed under newbtop.

    that we need a new file
    just to give you the links
    that have changed
    and leave the narrative of the site
    to a file just for that

    interdependence
    the site is telling us
    what it wants
    

  The controlling response of those in authority: I made the new file a What's New" button and moved it to the top right corner for balance. Who's obsessive?

  • OK, one more gold button and I would have gone mad. At least I proved I could make buttons. So, a little humility is a good thing.

  • finished basic concepts file, linked under Academic Support as Basic Concepts.

  • corrected November Organization to November Coalition. Sorry, I was tired. Let me know if I missed a spot in correcting.

  • Added the piece on Identify Positions on the Drug War Issue to the comments.htm file and linked it from Feedback on the Academic Support line.

  • Added new file on war on drugs, drugwar.htm, linked to on Criminal Justice and Social Change. Added "drugs, war on" to index. Added November Organization to Challenge link, and to staying in school while family torn by drugs. Added Minnesota Star-Tribune editorial behind all this to New Year's News.

  • Important link on how to identify theoretical positions in drugwar. htm.

  • Added stuff to index: forums, privacy articles, forums, technology as access to, co-optation, academic discourse, sharing, basic concepts.

  • Put up bare minimum on co-optation in coopt.htm (within forums.htm) and indexed it.

  • Finished moving siteadd.htm file into sitehist.htm. Specific date links can be found by linking on the Site History in navigation. That will take you to the index of site history files by date. Filenames: sitehist.htm, sitehs01.htm, ...sitehs07.htm. Siteadd.htm now contains only January 1999. Mary Frances, my New Year's gift to to you. jeanne

  • Added Projects to Join file, so that students will know how to get involved in research projects. Have asked directors to prepare tasks that can be done, hopefully by distance as well as on campus.

  • Changed HINTS on Naviagation Bar to HELP and then to ACADEMIC SUPPORT. That's better. Suggestions for titles appreciated. We need to make them fairly intuitive, and that's hard.

  • Index alphabet search completed. But not yet brought up to include recent files.

  • Added three button images to templart.htm. Hoping to use them for Navigation Bar. Just not much time to play.

  • Added blind.htm, accessed through challenge.htm - Link through dh on Voice: Injury and Illness. think I should change that tiitle to Challenge - like it better

  • Added to crimjacc.htm - link through criminal justice on dh

  • Added to publdisc.htm - link through public discourse as sociological method, under FEATURES

  • Spell-checked interact.htm, paper just submitted for presentation. Link through papers available on site, underFEATURES

  • Repaired teaching tolerance links. Need to add index link to main teaching tolerance site. Goes to Home in a Horse Stall now.

  • Created hldngpat.thm so that we would all have a record of which files I'm working on and what still needs to be done to them. Otherwise, I forget. Added link for holding pattern to quiknotes.htm, but not sure it belongs there, organizational and intuitive problem - finally added a link on the How to find stuff line to Holding Pattern, alond with Site Index, Site Additions, Site History - figure that's where holding pattern belongs.

• January 9, 1999

  • Created new file, quiknts.htm on Quick Notes and linked under navigation bar at HINTS. Describes academic discourse on the site. Did not link to index.

  • Moved more stuff to sitehist.htm. Or was that yesterday?

• January 8, 1999

  • Revised Habermas file to include definition of auto-poietic non-learning system. Link on LEARNING in public discourse as methodology file, which is under FEATURES. Did not add to index yet. Files are publdisc.htm and habermas.htm. Need to change link on public discourse page to Habermas from Learning. Not intuitive as it is.

  • Added comments to help to the home page links under HINTS. New file is comment.htm. Not finished yet. Companion ot concepts.htm which is also not finished yet.

  • Began moving site additions in small increments to sitehist.htm. As soon as it's done, I'll put a new link under FEATURES. The old link is working. It was under the old Features section of home page. Patience, please. That's one very long file, and it's data.

  • Altered e-mail instructions for collaborative groups on jjln03.htm and on syls99st.htm. Need to change on all e-mail exercise icons.

  • Yesterday worked with Susan on narrative learning paper. Will try to get it up today. Some of you need to branch off of that paper for your respective research projects.

• January 6, 1999

  • Yesterday I put up Introductory Statistics syllabus for Spring 99. Link through Introductory Statistics on Classes on home page, then through Stat Site. Files are statacc.htm and syls99st.htm.

  • Today I put up the Class Record of registration and a sample e-mail. Link directly from Class Records on home page, or from statacc.htm, which is linked through Introductory Statistics on Classes on home page. Yes, I did it on a spreadsheet! Still primitive, but it's working.

  • Added Huntington to Museum links. For George Washington exhibit.

• January 4, 1999

  • Added organized crime to Criminal Justice page. Added FBI, and two non-academic sites on organized crime. The non-academic sites give some sense of multiple perspectives and claims to validity. Acess through Crim. Justice on home page.

  • Added piece to Crim. Just on new perceptions of international organized crime - terrorism - an plea for govt. key to encryption. Added also to Sociology of the Net page on encryption.

  • Added to juv. just. page link to FBI 1997 report on violent street gangs. Access through juv justice.

• January 3, 1999

  • Added more links to crimjacc.htm and to jjacc.htm. Access through Criminal Justice and Juvenile Justice. Included Privatization and Corporate Crime.

  • Added writing a research paper from George Mason Universityon writing.htm. Access through home page - somewhere in the jumble of stuff added in the last six weeks. Under NEW technically.

  • Added link to educational site for youth. On debunking misinformation about African Americans. Also has section on exchange program with Zimbabwe. Link from race on main page through African American Art Website on raceneth.htm.

  • Added link to National Cancer Institute in connection with child cancer, and late effects, which would be where our students would fall. childcan.htm . Link can be reached through VOICE: Injury and Illness which leads to challenge.htm on all disabilities affecting our students. Also added link to piece on Pertoneal Cancer to the challenge.htm file.

  • Added two new papers from law reviews after notice from Vernellia Randall on whiteness as property. Get to her site link on raceneth.htm through race on home page.

  • Added huge number of links to jjacc.htm. Get here through Juvenile Justice link on Classes: on homepage.

• January 2, 1999

  • Created concepts.htm, linked it through main page on Hints with main navigation. Designed to give students specific information on how to link their thoughts, work, and production back to class focus.

  • Included "laying on of alternatives," which seems particularly appropriate in the midst of this heated debate between modernists and postmodernists, postmarxists and critical theorists, right and left, etc. Indexed, but need to go back to make link go directly to Laying on of alternatives. Add #alt.

  • Added sources to crim justice file and created syllabus for crim just. Linked under Classes: Criminal Justice and Social change. Not finished yet. But enough to start with.
