  • Added link to Adam Gruen's Freedom Lives on intertxt.htm. Also discovered the N.J. Fox link has disappeared. That means none of links to his article are valid. Will try to relink it. Added our intertxt piece to Adam Gruen's because terribly important that students read it now that we are going to student publication. Adam's Webwork shows how widespread our approach is. jeanne

• Friday, February 26, 1999

  • Added an e-mail by Prof. Seeley on the problems with not citing sources. In file, probsrc.htm, to which you can link under Voice, Stating Validity Claims. In index under evaluating web sites, source citation, and under source citation, and under What's New.

  • Besides the New Drug Links, which are on Justice Links, right at the top of that page with a new icon, also added How to E-Mail under the Worst Possible Conditions, i.e. in the labs with machines that don't have ears and refuse to purr. Those instructions are on the Computers Class page, Exercise 2.

  • Just added the National Museum of American Art and KIDS' activities and special materials in netacc.htm, which can be linked to through NET links, to What's New (whatnew.htm), and to museums.htm (Art museums.) Material ranges over age groups. check it out for KIDS you know.

• Monday, February 22, 1999

  • Added "I Don't Count as Diversity" to What's New, What's New at UWP, and to SOCA 359 Class page, to Juvenile Delinquency and Criminal Justice pages as Assigned Site readings.

  • Added syllabus to Computers for Social Sciences Class page.

  • Added computer exercise 1 to computer class page.

  • Put up the records for Juvenile Delinquency. Will try to get e-mail info transferred tomorrow. There are lots of you - it could take days.

  • Added tongue-in-cheek gifts for postmoderns to site index. Very funny site. Should be linked with postcards for friends, but I wasn't sure where that link was.

  • Added hmpgart.htm for the changing graphics for the home page each few weeks. We're stuck with my Afrikan drawing - I couldn't find any available for free. But we're ready with a pot of gold for March.

• Saturday, February 20, 1999

  • Added mirror.htm for mirror site information and to move the two soclink working sites to that file, so we won't have so many mirror sites popping up on the main page. Left only CSUDH and UWP main sites and habermas.org on main page. Cleaner.

  • Added days to site add date because we're moving so fast sometimes, I might give the wrong date. Hope the day will help.

  • Took Valentine's wishes down. Somebody out there find me a shamrock. No time here.

  • Set up wkteam.htm as our working file on beginning to structure peer review and peer editing. The structure has been pointedly left open, so that students can participate in its design. Link to the file from

  • Added to index, under grounded theory, a student's site on learning to use grounded theory. Wander through the English column for the story of Anselm Strauss learning to use e-mail and surf for grounded theory in his 70s!

  • Added new exercise to crimjacc.htm on war, war on drugs, and jail - ties into deathpenalty.
