Topic: Grief and Tragic Poetry Are you aware.....the way a government treats people that are hungry, homeless, drowntrodden, sick and poor, is an over all picture of a government's unmerciful heart's core?

HISTORY WILL NOT FORGET, NOR WILL YOU AND I, THE DAY THE USA REFUSED THE JEWS TO LAND, AND TOLD THEM GOODBYE. MAN'S DOMINATION TO MAN, FIRST THE INDIANS, THEN THE JEW, NO LONGER A MYSTERY, NOW MADE MANIFEST, FOR ALL TO VIEW!

Just look at these beautiful people ........
They could be your Mother, Father,
son or daughter, just to name a few!
Look closely into their eyes, and remember,
This is a picture of you!
For the way you treat others, is also the
way you treat yourself too!
The way your government treats others,
is an indication of the way they will also treat you!

What does it say about a Country, a World Power,
that would hold 937 european people at bay,
not letting them land, but turning them away?

On May 13, 1939, the S.S. St. Louis left
Hamburg, Germany with 937, Jews mostly,
running from Nazi persecution, with hopes in their hearts, and unending faith, truly sturdy.
Many paid dearly for the journey, money wise,
and having to leave loved ones behind.
Knowing full well, they may never again see
them in their whole lifetime!

Cuba revoked their landing permits.
They were forced to try landing in
Florida, by their wits.
They were so close they could
see the Miami lights.
Urgent cables were sent to the President
and all levels of the U.S. Government.

The outrage....no answers, nor replies
were ever returned!
Another outrage....Coast Guards patrolled
the Floridian Shores,
burning the only bridge to freedom
their hearts had yearned!

On June 7, 1939, the St. Louis
and her passengers, now homeless,
for almost a month, never reached shore!
They were forced to again cross the Atlantic,
hoping some country in Europe would allow
them permission to land ashore.
England, France, Holland and Belguim,
would agree.
They would divide the passengers
and set them free.
Their freedom was short-lived however,
because the Nazii's soon over run
Western Europe, they were trapped!
With their freedom again strapped,
They were kidnapped!

History now records, of the 619 men,
women and children that were sent to
France, Holland, or Belguim, about 260
were deported to killing centers to annihilate.
The USA is blood quilty for every single soul
that was lost, by their dictated stalemate!

The majority of them died, and the rest
of them reached nations from Argentina,
to Australia, to await their fate.
What happened to all these many wonderful
precious people that survived
this horrific tragedy?
That will be the title of my next poem:

"WHAT BECAME OF THE SURVIVORS, ARE THEY FREE?"
