There is a strong ideology in this society that young Black and Latino males are the most violent and criminal population in our society, "the violent minority." This paper investigates this ideology for its validity and reviews national and local crime statistics to determine the extent to which crime reports reflect the concept. The paper will also develop the concept of interdependence of narratives in which the narrative of young Black and Latino males has yet to be heard in good faith.

• How can we measure the validity of the concept of overwhelming violence among young Black and Latino youth?

• What is your perception of the truth of this concept of a violent minority? Do you believe that it accurately describes our communities?

• Do you consider it a primary social issue to discover the reality, validity, and effects of this concept of the violent minority as a matter of public discourse? Souldn't we be talking about it, and seriously?

• Please share any statistical sources and/or approaches that could help in the consideration of this issue.
