Educator Courses Via Distance Learning
These courses are computer-based training which you can complete at a pace that fits your schedule. The instructor is accessed by a toll-free number or via email for technical or professional questions. You will receive the course materials via e-mail or regular mail after you register, depending on whether you requested the online or CD version at the time of registration. The courses have been developed by Virtual Education Software, Inc. (VESi), and are offered by CSU Dominguez Hills in partnership with VESi.
Topics covered include managing disruptive behavior, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), violence in schools, drugs and alcohol use and abuse, learning disabilities, Autism and Asperger's Disorder, special needs students, behavior assessments, high achievers, aggressive behavior in the classroom, child abuse (including neglected children), traumatized children, assessing student learning, teaching diversity, reading fundamentals, infant and toddler mental health, family-centered services from birth to five, early childhood program planning, early childhood observation and assessment, and early childhood typical and atypical development.
All work must be completed by the end of each term. Please check the schedule for schedule and cost information. Be advised that the extension units earned in these classes are not applicable to the baccalaureate degree at CSUDH.
Technical Requirements
Students receive course materials by e-mail or regular mail after registration. If you choose to take the course online, you must have a reliable, high-speed Internet connection. With the online option, all data saves to the VESi servers, so you may use more than one computer to complete your course. If you choose the CD option, all user data is saved on your computer's hard drive, and you must stay on the same computer from start to finish.
The following requirements are needed:
Macintosh Operating Systems -- Mac
OS 9.x or OSX, 1 GB of RAM and 5MB of free hard disk space,
