Now Approved by AOTA for Occupational Therapists!
We are proud to announce that we have approved by The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) for Occupational Therapists in the US. Occupational Therapists can now take our personal trainers certification and our other workshops for CEC's. Professionals can also earn college credits through the American Council on Education (ACE). Graduates can get transcripts from the Wash. DC ACE office, after confirmation that they have passed the course.

All classes are offered at California State University, Dominguez Hills in Carson. Personal Fitness Trainer Certificate classes are convenient for people living and working in or near Los Angeles, Torrance, Long Beach, Carson, Compton, El Segundo, Palos Verdes, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, San Pedro, Hawthorne, Gardena, Lakewood, Paramount, Bellflower, Downey, Inglewood and other parts of the South Bay and Southern California.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
The course is taught over a eight-week period consisting of 16 hours of lectures including the following topics: anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, musculoskeletal injuries, and health screening. The program also includes 16 hours of “hands-on” practical training that prepares you to work individually with clients.
Top personal fitness trainers make $60,000 or more a year while the median salary is nearly $30,000 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Employment in California for fitness trainers is due to increase over 50% from 2002 to 2012.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Fitness enthusiasts or anyone seeking a new career in the health and fitness industry.
There are no prerequisites required for the program. Proof of CPR/AED and 30-hour internship is required before the certificate can be issued.
A 30-hour internship will help prepare you to work in the fitness field.
W.I.T.S. is an approved CEU provider for the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET), Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC) and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). College credits towards a degree can also be acquired through our affiliation with the American Council on Education.
The National Exam is held on the 9th week. Proof of CPR/AED and internship is required before the certificate can be issued.
The cost of the program is $524.
Students are also required to purchase a textbook, Fitness Professional's Handbook, 6th edition, by Howley and Franks. Students are to read chapters 1, 3, 5 & 6 for the first class meeting.
