The BSN Program

The online Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree completion program offers an individualized approach to nursing education designed for the self-directed, employed registered nurse. It is one of the largest post-licensure programs in the United States.

The undergraduate program (RN to BSN) prepares registered nurses as generalists in professional nursing practice. Graduates are equipped to function as leaders, managers, and resource persons in a variety of health care settings. Higher order thinking and decision making are informed through both general and discipline specific education.

Topics include: human diversity and healthcare, professional collaboration in nursing practice, pathophysiology, health assessment, health teaching and promotion, community-based nursing, healthcare systems, healthcare policy, professional nursing roles, nursing leadership, nursing management, nursing research utilization, alternative health care, complementary health care, continuous quality improvement, telehealth, healthcare budgeting, nursing case management, and international health.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), National League for Nursing (NLN), and Western Institute of Nursing (WIN).

Graduates are prepared to function in a rapidly changing society as members or leaders of health care teams. If desired, graduates may be eligible for the State of California's Public Health Nurse Certificate.

California State University Dominguez Hills is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the regional accrediting body recognized by the US Department of Education and The Council on Post-Secondary Education.
