Two Summer Camps for
Youth in the Creative Arts Ages 11-17

talents in two fun-filled, creative summer workshop camps.
Week 1 Video Game Art and Design
- Develop Skills in Video Game Design
- Develop Skills in Computer Illustration & Special Effects
Week 2 Cartooning & Fine Arts
- Develop techniques in Cartoon Drawing
- Develop techniques in fine Arts realistic drawing
Each camp meets 4 days, from 9:30am to 4pm and includes both morning
and afternoon sessions. Computer camp students should bring a Flash
drive to save final digital design projects.
Summer Camp in Video Game Art and Design
The Program
This is a four-day workshop camp, Monday through Thursday, July
9-12, 2007, 9:30am-4pm, including both morning and afternoon sessions.
Morning Session: 9:30am- 12:00pm
Video Game Design: Character Design and Introduction to
Flash Animation
Does your teenager spend hours playing video games? Does he or
she want to design a game or have that creative spark for making
a game challenging and fun to play? Then sign them up for this introductory
workshop. From the history of games to designing characters, developing
a story line to basic motion and effects, this is an information-packed,
fun-filled workshop for aspiring game designers everywhere.
Afternoon session, 1:30pm-4pm
Computer Graphics: Illustration & Special Effects
A must for young computer graphic enthusiasts! Students learn the
step-by-step process for creating compelling digital illustrations
under the guidance of instructor Robert Dillworth, a noted entertainment
industry designer. From Alpha channels to masking and layers, to
color and special effects, students will use acquired design skills
to create compelling illustration for logos, movie posters and CDs.
Young artists will be introduced to Abode Photoshop, the software
used by leading industry professionals.

Eligibility Requirements
No prerequisites are required for the certificate.

Mr. Dillworth is both an experienced designer and classroom instructor.
An entertainment industry designer his creative credits include
projects for Warner, Sony and Rhino Records.

Summer Camp In Cartooning & Fine Arts
The Program
This is a four-day workshop camp, Monday through Thursday, July
16-19, 2007, 9:30am-4pm including both morning and afternoon sessions.
What You Will Learn
Morning Session: 9:30am-12pm
Funny Pictures: A Cartooning Workshop for Kids
Calling all kids fascinated with cartoon drawing. This hands-on
workshop will introduce you to secrets of drawing cartoons. From
creating cartoon strips, to super heroes, to caricaturing, humor
writing and more.
Step-by-step activities cover:
• Basic shapes, faces, expression
• Designing original characters
• Cartoons in motion: Walking to running
• Animal characters: From dogs to dinosaurs
• Comic strips, super heroes, greeting cards
• Humor writing – talking bubbles
Afternoon Session: 1:30pm-4pm
Fine Arts for Kids: Introduction to Realistic Drawing
Does your child show promise and aspire to become an artist? Does
he or she enjoy art at schools and can’t get enough? Artist,
Eric Teitelbaum, co-creator of the new “Pink Panther”
comic strip, designed this workshop for young enthusiasts as an
outstanding opportunity to learn the techniques of comic realistic
drawing. Students will gain the ability to draw with accuracy while
developing important observational skills necessary for any fine
artist.
Step-by-step lessons incorporate charcoal, watercolor, pen/ink and
graphite as students are introduced to point-to-point drawing, realistic
sketching perspective, shading and composition and color. Class
projects from still life to collage will introduce young learners
to artistic techniques for making objects appear representational.
Who Should Attend
Kids from age 11-17 who are interested in gaining hands-on experience
with developing graphics for videogames.

Mr. Teitelbaum is a nationally syndicated cartoonist, whose art
appears in The New Yorker Magazine. He is also co-creator of the
new "Pink Panther" comic strip, which appears in leading
newspapers, including the Los Angeles Time Sunday comics section.
