& Fine Arts
The Program
This is a four-day workshop camp, Monday through Thursday,
July 16-19, 2007, 9:30am-4pm
including both morning and afternoon sessions. Students should
bring a lunch. Lunchtime will be supervised.
What You Will Learn
Morning Session: 9:30am-12pm
Funny Pictures: A Cartooning Workshop for Kids
Calling all kids fascinated with cartoon drawing. This hands-on
workshop will introduce you to secrets of drawing cartoons.
From creating cartoon strips, to super heroes, to caricaturing,
humor writing and more.
Step-by-step activities cover:
• Basic shapes, faces, expression
• Designing original characters
• Cartoons in motion: Walking to running
• Animal characters: From dogs to dinosaurs
• Comic strips, super heroes, greeting cards
• Humor writing – talking bubbles
Afternoon Session:
1:30pm-4pm
Fine Arts for Kids: Introduction to Realistic Drawing
Does your child show promise and aspire to become an artist?
Does he or she enjoy art at schools and can’t get enough?
Artist, Eric Teitelbaum, co-creator of the new “Pink
Panther” comic strip, designed this workshop for young
enthusiasts as an outstanding opportunity to learn the techniques
of comic realistic drawing. Students will gain the ability
to draw with accuracy while developing important observational
skills necessary for any fine artist.
Step-by-step lessons incorporate
charcoal, watercolor, pen/ink and graphite as students are
introduced to point-to-point drawing, realistic sketching
perspective, shading and composition and color. Class projects
from still life to collage will introduce young learners to
artistic techniques for making objects appear representational.
Who Should Attend
Kids from age 11-17 who are interested in gaining hands-on
experience with developing graphics for videogames.
Eligibility Requirements
No prerequisites are required for the certificate.

Courses taught by entertainment industry graphics professionals.
Instructors
Eric Teitelbaum, Instructor, Cartooning & Fine Arts. Mr.
Teitelbaum is a nationally syndicated cartoonist, whose art
appears in The New Yorker Magazine. He is also co-creator
of the new "Pink Panther" comic strip, which appears
in leading newspapers, including the Los Angeles Time Sunday
comics section.
