Tier II Educational Administration Program

Tier II Educational Administration Program

Program Overview
The program prepares school leaders to confront issues of equity, achievement gaps, scarce resources, hard to staff schools, and underperforming teachers and staff. The candidates will learn to lead in ways that positively impact teaching and learning, school culture, and community involvement.

The program is designed on individual candidates’ special needs. Candidates will develop their electronic Individual Induction Plan (IIP) via a battery of assessments based on six thematic areas (CPSELs). Candidates participate in field experiences, university and non-university sponsored activities, seminars, panel discussions, independent reading, reflective practice and on-line learning as specified in their IIP.

There are four major components to the Tier II, Professional Administrative Credential program:
1. Traditional classes based on the California Professional Standards for Educational Leaders. These
classes will be in cohorts and include lecture, panel discussions, and seminars.
2. Online-learning that reinforces and enhances the traditional classes and extends professional
preparation through case study analysis, on-line discussions and extensive professional reading.
3. Field-based leadership projects that integrates course work, readings, mentoring, and on-line
components.
4. Mentoring, coaching, and advising provided by university cohort coordinator and instructor who have
extensive field experience.

Prerequisite to the Tier II Program and earning a Tier II Credential
1) Employed full-time in a position requiring an administrative credential.
2) Possess a valid Preliminary Administrative Services Credential.
3) Verify completion of a minimum of two years of successful experience in a full-time administrative position in a public school or private school of equivalent status while holding the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential.
