Students participating in the "online" distance learning programs at CSU Dominguez Hills attend on a session basis. This means that the course-work will be divided into four separate sessions throughout our "traditional" academic year. The traditional academic year at CSU Dominguez Hills consists of 3 semesters-Fall, Spring, and Summer.

Fall
August - December
Spring
January - May
Summer
June - August

Disbursements are issued at the beginning of each semester and not at the beginning of each session.

The Financial Aid Office determines your eligibility based on the information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To apply visit www.fafsa.ed.gov. Please note, students must reapply for financial aid for each new academic year.

As a distance learning student through the online program, you will not be eligible for federal or state grants. Rather, you are considered for federal loans only. If you are eligible to borrow a William D. Ford Deferal Direct Loan, it will be paid in two equal installments or three if you will be enrolled during the summer session. These installments will occur at the beginning of the Fall, Spring, and Summer terms. The William D. Ford. Federal Direct Loan Program offers two types of loans: subsidized and unsubsidized. The maximum loan eligibility is $8,500 per academic year.

We encourage students to limit the amount they choose to borrow. Remember, a student loan must be REPAID!

Listed below is an example of a standard budget. Also please note, in order to receive your loan disbursement, you must register at least half time as a masters student (4 units). Therefore, if your online program offers 3 unit courses only, you will need to be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units to be eligible for the loan disbursement.

Standard Budget:

Regular Fees:
$900 per course
Ex:(2 courses at 6 units each) 2 x $900 = $1,800 each session

$1,800 x 4 sessions = $7,200 Grand Total for one academic year.

ESTIMATED BUDGET:

Books/Supplies $1,206
Fees: $7,200
Loan Fees $128
Meals and Housing Off Campus $8,784
Personal Expenses $2,250
*Internet Access $240

* Internet Access Calculated on a year basis and $20.00 monthly fee.
