must already be able to... (besides basic computer knowledge)
1. Use a search engine to locate information.
2. Download graphics from the web.
3. Define GIF, JPG and "animated GIF".
4. Use a graphic as an alternate to <HR>
5. Demonstrate appropriate use of the following HTML
tag categories: required tags, images, lists, colors, text sizes, lines
Objectives: After completing
this lesson, the learner will be able to...
1. Create three linked web pages (topic=cows) using
Netscape Composer.
2. Use a list (text) of links.
3. Use a graphics as background and links.
4. Control the size and position of graphics.
5. Create a simple animated GIF.
6. Create a GIF from the clipboard ("copied" graphic).
Lesson Description (time):
1. Warm up exercise--the "Tiger Page" (see also tigers.htm). (20)
2. Review syllabus, remind about important dates. (5)
3. Handout distributed, lesson explained. (5)
4. Demonstrate editing .gif/.jpg in Adobe Photoshop/Word
(fading for background image). (10)
5. Demonstrate creating GIF files (see also SampleClipArt.doc for practice images) (10)
6. Demonstrate creating a simple animated GIF. (10)
7. Review handout on links. Demonstrate
use of links in the form of text, graphics, and a combination of both. (20)
8. Ask students to create series of three
web pages about cows ("index page" and two others, see also COW.HTML and Raw Materials
for the Cow Pages). (60)
