Lesson 5 - Tables/Frames

: Netscape (or other browser with editor)
Hardware required: Internet-connected computers
Audience: TBE 540 students (graduate students, majority are teachers)

Prerequisites:  Learners must already be able to... (besides basic computer knowledge)
1. Use a search engine to locate information.
2. Download graphics using Netscape or Internet Explorer.
3. Start an HTML document (from scratch).
4. Use an existing image map.
5. Demonstrate appropriate use of the following HTML tags categories: required tags, images, lists, background graphics, colors, text sizes, links (graphics/text), lines, map
6. Create web pages using Netscape as an editor.

Objectives: After completing this lesson, the learner will be able to...
1. Given a simple table on paper (containing graphics and/or text), use Netscape to create a table on a web page.
2.  Describe access to online research articles for the Annotated Bibliography.

1.    Warm up (creating two pages linked to an existing image map, see also MyBody.html and Eye.html) (20)
2.    Handouts distributed, lesson explained. (10)
3.    Introduce/demonstrate Annotated Bibliography online reference search (see Sample HTML Project - litrevdefault.html for some information) (15)
4.    View PPT lesson (HTMLLESSON5.PPT)
5.    Demonstrate relative addressing. See relativeaddr.html. (10)
6.    Demonstrate use of tables in web pages. See formatwithtables.htmlNose.html, tables.htm and tableexamples.html (25)
7.    Demonstrate use of frames in web pages. See also former SOE homepage and chapter from an online book. (20)
8.    Complete the FEET.HTML exercise (see also FEET.HTML and  FEETPIX.HTML). (30)
