France:
Aix-en-Provence & Paris
Why Study Abroad?
The CSU International Program has two study locations in France: Aix-en-Provence and Paris. The Aix program provides students who possess a wide range of preparation in French with the opportunity to maximize their knowledge of the language and to participate in special instructional programs for non-native speakers. The Paris program is designed for students with advanced language skills who feel prepared to study primarily within the regular curriculum of one of the cooperating branches of the University of Paris. Aix has a population of more that 140,000. Tree-lined streets, sidewalk cafés and dozens of picturesque fountains contribute to its celebrated charm. The climate features warm summers, mild but often rainy weather in fall and spring, and chilly winters during which it may snow. Paris, one of the great cities of the world, is home to 2.2 million inhabitants and is the political and cultural capital of France. Predating ancient Roman time, Paris has developed its unique character through a history replete with great political, military, literary, artistic, and scientific achievements. A favorite locale for international students, Paris offers rich cultural resources and a vital and colorful lifestyle. Students enroll in the Institut d'Études Francaises pour Étudiants Étrangers of L'Académie d' Aix-Marseille or one of eight participating campuses of the University of Paris. Beginning French language students attend the program in Aix, while the more advanced students may study in either Paris or Aix. Both programs are preceded by a preparatory language program. |
