What is an Orientation Leader?

An Orientation Leader (OL) is an important part of a new student’s initiation to the University. OLs assist new students with the transition to campus life and encourage involvement in the campus community. An OL is selected on the basis of their leadership qualities, motivation, intellect, willingness to assume responsibilities, embodiment of CSUDH spirit and ability to relate to incoming CSUDH students. Orientation Leaders work closely with students, parents, faculty, administrators, and others in a variety of academic and interpersonal capacities indoors and outdoors on campus.

How do I apply?

STEP 1: APPLICATION

Complete and submit the appropriate application materials to CSUDH WH 240, attention NSO. Complete application includes: 2018 NSO Application, Resume, and Recommendation Form. Applications can be submitted to cwhite@csudh.edu or delivered to WH 240.

STEP 2: RECOMMENDATION FORM

One recommendation form is required of each applicant. Recommendations should be requested from a CSUDH faculty or staff member who can comment on your ability to be an effective Orientation Leader. Completed form may be turned in a sealed envelope to WH 240, attention NSO.

STEP 3: INTERVIEW

Candidates will be invited to participate in one or more interviews with the selection committee. You can sign up for an interview after you receive the email confirmation that you have advanced to the second round of the application process.

STEP 4: HIRING DECISIONS

Hiring decisions will be made based on the application packet, individual and group interviews, and recommendation form. Candidates will be notified of their status via email early in spring semester.
