Information/Data on Canada's Educational System

Each province of Canada is responsible for its own educational system. In all provinces, education is cumpulsory for eight years beginning at the age six or seven, Primary and secondary education is free. New Foundland has a public-donominational system; every school uses similar curricula, but the schools themselves are operated by different religious groups. All provinces have their own public universities. College attendance has rise from 16 percent (of college age people) in 1960 to nearly 10% today. About 10% of the total population holds university degress. The literacy rate is 99%.
