Women in modern Japan are out in the work place now more than ever. However most women find that they can rise only to a certain level in a company and that's it. Women are denied access to connections that men have, and they are considered a sorce of embarrassment to themselves, their family and the company if they are not married by the age of 25. Things have been changing slowly in the last few years, but Japanese women still have a ways to go.

Women in Japan are slowly gaining becoming more empowered in the workplace and society. However, they have a long way to go before they can be considered equal to men. A women's role in the workplace is more as a decorative figure. Having many women working as secretaries or filers is a status symbol for Japanese companies. Women are paid less than men, they can only advance to a certain level in the company. At the age of 25 most women get married and quit working. Japan is in the Stone Age as far as women and working women are concerned.
