RUSSIA'S OVERALL DEVELOPMENT PLAN
By Daryl R. Evans
General Characteristics of Russia's Overall Development Plan: Russia is rich in natural and human resources. This unfortunately has not been transformed into strength in high technology. Russia is still behind the West in high technologies. This is due mainly to the old Soviet system which put too much emphasis on military development.
Conclusions on Russia's Overall Development Plan
Russia will be a superpower once again in the years to come. It has a strong willed people that are accustomed to adversity. Rich in natural and human resources, the technology will develop. The main sticking point will be the economic power of the nation. Since President Yelstin lifted price controls in 1992 the rate of inflation has been high. If he can stabilize the economy this will make the public more willing to stay on the road to a free economy.
