Mission Statement for Graduate Studies and Research

The Graduate Studies unit of the Office of Academic Programs seeks to provide a quality graduate experience for students to develop their higher level cognitive skills and prepare them for leadership roles in society.  Graduate Studies encourages academic programs and departments to provide state-of-the-art courses of advanced study in areas consonant with the University mission and Graduate Studies also provides services to assist graduate students to achieve their educational goals make timely progress toward completion of their degree and supports their efforts to engage in collaborative research, scholarship and creative activities with faculty.  Graduate Studies administers scholarship and fellowship programs to facilitate graduates in pursuing advanced study in doctoral programs beyond Dominguez Hills. 

            As part of the Graduate Studies unit, the Office of Research and Funded Projects (ORFP) promotes the research, scholarship and creative activities of faculty and staff by assisting their efforts to obtain extramural funding.  Seed money is provided to assist the campus community in piloting research projects for future extramural support.  ORFP also supports requests to attend technical assistance workshops for specific grant programs and faculty release time to prepare grants for extramural funding agencies. Accomplishments of the CSUDH community are highlighted in lectures, symposia and conferences co-sponsored by Graduate Studies and ORFP.
