FACULTY
/ TEACHING:
Since 1980 I have taught evening undergraduate and graduate
classes for the College of Health and Human Services (Health
Science) and previously for the School of Management
(Public Administra-tion) at California
State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH).
My courses include Health Resources Management, Health
Care Finance, Communication Skills for Health Professionals,
Health Planning, Community Health Agencies, Health Systems and
Perspectives, etc. To simulate real-life health care
environments in the classroom, I use “real world” case studies,
dramatizations, role plays, collaborative team projects, group
problem solving, public speaking, interactive lectures, critical
thinking, writing/ reading across the curriculum, service learning,
“quick thinks,” open space technology, and multimedia web-based
instruction. I have presented and published locally, nationally
and internationally and received numerous awards, certificates
and grants.
HEALTH
CARE MANAGEMENT: Since 1972 I have had an extensive full-time career in health care management
throughout the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services
(DHS), and previously, the LA County Chief Administrative Office
(CAO). During this time I have served as Associate Administrator,
Assistant Hospital Administrator, Chief Financial Officer, Senior
Manager, Strategic Planner, Area Administrator and/or Acting
Administrator for the following networks of County
