Master of Science in Nursing
What are the basic admission requirements? Completion of a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution with an upper division major in nursing (BSN) and a NLNAC accredited nursing program or the equivalent as determined by CSUDH Student Affairs Committee.
- Overall grade point average of 3.0 (on a four-point scale) or higher in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted, or demonstrated academic ability as required by the faculty.
- Current and active RN licensure in the United States.
- The Graduate Writing Examination (GWE) requirement must be met prior to OR during the first semester of coursework with a score of 8 or better.
- Prerequisite BSN courses, depending on chosen role option.
Can I be admitted to the program if earned my bachelor's degree in another field?

How long does it take to complete the program?
The program consists of 33-53 semester units of approved graduate study, depending on the role option. Prior "current" graduate work may be transferred in (9-15 units, depending on the role option). A working professional can take up to five years to complete the program, but fulltime students may finish in about two years.
What role emphasis options are available?
Five role options are available. Select from Nurse Educator, Nurse Administrator, Clinical Nurse Specialist in Parent-Child Nursing, Clinical Nurse Specialist in Gerontology, or Family Nurse Practitioner.
What is the culminating experience?
After completion of the program or in the last semester of coursework, the student will sit for a comprehensive examination.
How are the courses offered?
Courses are offered online. Select courses may be offered on campus or in select geographical areas. Students taking online courses need to have access to a computer, modem and an Internet service provider.
