2009 ARMY NURSE CORPS ASSOCIATION
NURSING SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Army Nurse Corps Association is accepting applications for the 2009 Army Nurse Corps Scholarship program. The scholarship is named in honor of Lieutenant Colonel Richard Berrettini, Army Nurse Corps, Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Lieutenant Colonel Berrettini was the victim of an improvised explosive device (IED) attack while riding in a convoy in Afghanistan. He was the first Army Nurse Corps officer to die in combat in Afghanistan.
The $3,500.00 scholarship grant is made to selected schools of nursing to be awarded as scholarships to qualified baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing student(s). Ten (10) grants are made each year. The Army Nurse Corps Association cannot award scholarships directly to students, but schools of nursing can make application on behalf of a particular student(s).
