The Army Nurse Corps Association is accepting applications for the 2009 Army Nurse Corps Scholarship program.  The scholarship is named in honor of Lieutenant Colonel Richard Berrettini, Army Nurse Corps, Pennsylvania Army National Guard.   Lieutenant Colonel Berrettini was the victim of an improvised explosive device (IED) attack while riding in a convoy in Afghanistan.  He was the first Army Nurse Corps officer to die in combat in Afghanistan.

The $3,500.00 scholarship grant is made to selected schools of nursing to be awarded as scholarships to qualified baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing student(s).  Ten (10) grants are made each year.  The Army Nurse Corps Association cannot award scholarships directly to students, but schools of nursing can make application on behalf of a particular student(s).  Complete information about the Lieutenant Colonel Richard Berettini Army Nurse Corps Association Scholarship can be found at www.anca@e-anca.org and clicking "Scholarships".  For your immediate reference, a copy of the information brochure and application process is attached.    After reviewing the attached information or visiting the web site, you may get further information by sending an  e-mail to ANCA by clicking "Contact Us" on the web site or at education@e-anca.org.  The deadline for the school to submit an application is April 1, 2009.
