SEXUAL HARASSMENT POLICY It is the policy of the California State University, Dominguez Hills, that the campus maintain a working and learning environment free from sexual harassment of its students, employees, and those who apply for student or employee status. All students and employees should be aware that California State University, Dominguez Hills is concerned and will take action to eliminate sexual harassment. Sexual harassment includes such behavior as sexual advances, request for sexual favors and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature directed towards an employee, student, or applicant when one or more of the following circumstances are present:
In determining whether conduct actually constitutes sexual harassment, the circumstances surrounding the conduct will be carefully considered. In order to ensure adherence with the policy of The California State University, I have designated the following individuals to act in an advisory capacity for complaints of sexual harassment on our campus: Vice President for Student Affairs, Associate Vice President, Faculty Affairs, Director of Human Resources and the Director of Equity and Internal Affairs. The decision to proceed with an investigation or to begin disciplinary action cannot depend on the specific consent of the individual alleging sexual harassment. The university has the obligation to provide a bias-free environment. It must take action to reduce the possibility of objectionable behavior. Employees in units 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, confidential employees
and management personnel may file a formal written complaint under
*CSU Executive Order 419 within 42 days of the alleged act of sexual harassment.
Formal complaint filed under this executive order may be filed with any
of the designated persons listed in this policy on behalf of the President,
who will refer it to the appropriate administrator for investigation and
resolution. In order to provide more information on this subject, training sessions will be announced periodically. Attendance at these sessions is considered an employment obligation of university employees. Cooperation from the entire university community is essential to insure full compliance with this policy and procedures established for handling complaints. This memo updates and supersedes PM 88-11 to implement the Chancellor’s Executive Order 345 and FSR 85-86.
