LEARNING OUTCOME OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course you should have learned the following:
1. The place of history in the humanities curriculum.
2. The basic terms and concepts of history and how to approach the study of
history.
3. The place and importance of recent theoretical approaches to the study
of history.
4. The nature of and importance of understanding the “state of research”
in a given research topic.
- Skills
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
1. Employ the methods of historians to understand historical events.
2. Select and apply a theory of history to a topic from history.
3. Begin assembling a state of research section of a research paper.
4. Demonstrate improved composition skills as measured by written assignments.
5. Demonstrate improved critical thinking, writing, and reading skills.
