The Inauguration of
President Mildred García
On May 2, 2008, California State University, Dominguez Hills celebrated the Inauguration of Dr. Mildred García as its seventh president. The inauguration of a president is a seminal event in the life of a university. Consequently, University faculty, staff, students, alumni, state officials, community members, and academic leaders from other institutions came from all over the nation to celebrate the installation of the new president.
The inaugural theme "Transforming Lives: Our Heritage, Our Future." was selected to highlight the remarkable history and promising future of California State University, Dominguez Hills. A host of special events took place during the week leading up to the installation ceremony on Friday, May 2.
