Tips from the IT Help Desk
By Danny Lujan
Beginning this semester, all students who are asking the IT Help Desk to configure wireless access on their laptops for campus network connectivity must first ensure that their laptops are current with Microsoft updates and the latest version of Java. Note: You must be connected to the Internet in order to install updates.
- Install Microsoft updates by clicking the start button in the left hand corner of the Windows screen, click All Programs, and then click Windows Update.
- To install the latest version of Java go to www.java.com and click the Java download button.
If you have questions about installing these updates, submit a help desk ticket online at https://helpweb.csudh.edu. Alternately, telephone the help desk at 310.243.2500. The help desk has implemented a new voice response message at x2500. Please listen to the help desk message in its entirety before selecting your option. These changes were implemented to improve the overall support at the help desk.
As reminder, password management for both employees and students can be done online 24/7 at https://dhnet.csudh.edu.
