Project Scope

Bringing a 21st Century Network Infrastructure to CSUDH

The project provides:

  • Additional pathways to distribute infrastructure of copper and fiber cables through out the campus
  • Additional copper and fiber cables as a backbone to connect campus buildings
  • Relocation of the campus phone switch and data switch/router to a larger, enhanced network control center
  • New and/or improved telecommunications rooms in all buildings, including electrical and mechanical improvements as well as architectural
  • Pathways to facilitate the installation of interior cabling in most campus buildings
  • Replacement of infrastructure for voice and data with CAT5e certified cable, new outlets, and faceplates
  • Additional cable trays in the tunnels
  • Additional conduits to the south of the ERC building along the western side of the athletics buildings
  • Additional conduits to the north of LaCorte Hall to the grass area north of the student union
  • New network electronics. The equipment supplier is CISCO and the project integrator is SBC Datacomm. All equipment will be capable of 10/100 Mb/sec switched Ethernet
  • Two data jacks in every classroom/lab in most campus buildings (see list of included buildings)
  • Two data and one phone jack in every office in most campus buildings (see list of included buildings).

The contractor is expected to work during the night after 10 p.m. in any building where a disruption to students and faculty is possible. Work in these areas will stop at 6 a.m.

This project will take approximately 16 months to complete. The work is passed and sequenced in order to minimize disruption to campus activities.
