Attempted Credit Card Theft

Attention all students, faculty, and staff

It was reported to me that a credit card thief called one of our students. She claimed that she was an IT staff member from our University and wanted to verify the security code at back of the student’s credit card. Fortunately, the student was aware of such credit card scams and didn’t reveal the security code. The student reported the attempted theft to the University. I would like to inform you that no staff or faculty member from this University will phone our students and request the security code of your credit cards over the phone. Please do not disclose the security code (the last 3 digits at the back of your credit cards) or any other information about your credit cards to anyone over the phone who claims to be a University staff or faculty member.

Thank you for your attention.
