IMD now offers six mediated carts that can be wheeled to classrooms. Each cart has a Dell laptop computer, an Epson 810 video-data projector, a VHS unit, and a powered sound system that delivers high quality audio. The cart also comes with a network connection that allows you to connect to the campus network, provided the classroom has a network jack. Carts are available on a pickup/return basis only (i.e., they are not delivered).

IMD is located on the west side of the first floor of the University Library building (LIB). The center serves faculty by delivering media equipment and materials to the classroom. Some commonly used equipment include:

  • VHS units with monitors or projectors
  • Laptop computers on carts with projector and sound system
  • 1/2" VHS camera

and the full compliment of traditional audiovisual equipment including 35mm slide projectors, overhead projectors, 16mm film projectors audio cassette player/recorders, public address systems, etc.

Those faculty wishing to use the service can call the center to discuss their media needs and make arrangements for materials and equipment. Typically, faculty submit "standing orders," which are memos that detail equipment, media, dates, times, and locations. You can place this order online by e-mailing the information to IMS.

Forget to send in your order? Don't panic. You can still order equipment with less than 24 hours' notice and it will be available on a "pick-up and return" basis. This means that instructors can pick up the equipment and return it themselves after their class sessions.
