No Chalk Policy for Claudia Hampton Lecture Hall
Dear Campus Community,
In an effort to keep instructors and students from writing on the rear-projection screen in the Claudia Hampton Lecture Hall (CHLH, WH D165), we are asking that you not bring chalk into the CHLH. Twice we have had instructors write on the surface, and we are concerned that further damage to the screen will necessitate its replacement ($13,000 is a rather steep replacement cost for something so easily preventable). We have installed signage on both sides of the screen indicating this is not a writing surface, there are two dry erase boards on either side of the screen, and there is some wonderful gadgetry in the podium. All of this is designed to eliminate the use of chalk in that room.
Should you have any questions regarding the equipment or facilities in the CHLH (or any of the Enhanced Technology Classrooms, i.e., ETCs), you can call or e-mail IMS and we’ll be happy to demonstrate the capabilities of any of the rooms. Also, if you experience any problems while using these facilities, we have a new technician, Michael Little (X2710), who can assist you and get you back on track.
Finally, since we have a large number of part-time faculty, we would like to ask our full-time faculty and departmental staff to please pass this information on to the individuals who are scheduled in these rooms.
